Why It Looks Awful: It looks like painfully generic horror nonsense and nothing more, suffering from atrocious visual effects and a yawn-inducing antagonist. It's also directed by a first-timer and written by the guy who brought us the Nightmare on Elm Street and The Thing reboots.

Why It'll Make A Profit: Because it's clearly been made on the cheap, has a snappy, catchy title, and preys on the relatable, elemental fear of the dark that makes it incredibly easy to market to the horror crowd. Plus, since when do horror movies not make money, especially PG-13 ones?
