Robert might be one of Hollywood's best paid actors, but he's by no means one of the tallest. Clocking in at a not-too-shameful 5' 8", Robert unfortunately often finds himself cast with some towering co-stars, and more than one director has made him wear high-heeled and wedged shoes to make up the difference on camera. The first occasion saw Guy Ritchie displeased by the height gap between his two stars on the set of Sherlock Holmes, and coerced Downey, Jr. into wearing some platform footwear to bring him up to Jude Law's level. A great idea in principle, but apparently the film's outtakes are littered with scenes ruined by its lead tripping over himself and stumbling off camera as he had to learn to walk in them. After getting forced to wear them in almost every scene he's played Tony Stark in as well (Gwyneth Paltrow's taller than him and, well, Chris Hemsworth, and Chris Evans are all over 6ft), they're now allegedly a regular staple in his everyday wardrobe too.
