15 Truly Terrible Villainous Performances From Awesome Actors

4. Christopher Eccleston - Thor: The Dark World

Christopher Eccleston is a very strong British actor who is best-remembered for his brilliant work as Doctor Who. He doesn't make a lot of films and it's unfortunate he ended up choosing Thor: The Dark World, since there were many other roles that would've been far better uses of his time. Surely he realized this role was far removed from his normal dramatic parts and wouldn't work?

He has admitted that this was just a paycheck role and compared it to acting with a gun to his head. He absolutely hated working with Marvel and this was clearly a depressing experience for him, but it gets worse. He was not only stuck in the MCU's worst film, but he played the worst villain in a franchise that used to be criticised for its villains repeatedly.

Malekith is a space elf and while that sounds funny, this villain is as bland, downbeat and one-note as they come. Eccleston's misery is evident and he gives a terrible performance. His line readings are wooden and any menace or depth is non-existent, making this easily his worst performance.

Let's just hope he was paid well for it.
