16 Delayed 2021 Movies That Were Actually Worth Waiting For

15. Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway

No Time to Die Daniel Craig
Sony Pictures Releasing

How the hell did this happen?

Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway was the second film to be delayed by Coronavirus (the first being No Time to Die) and no-one really cared, since few were looking forward to this.

The marketing was very weak and it was also following up a woefully misjudged family film that, in one scene, featured the titular rabbit celebrating when he thought he'd caused a man to have a fatal heart attack (seriously, what the s**t was that about?).

And then, the sequel finally came out and... it was actually a good family film. 'Pleasantly surprising' doesn't even cover it.

Not only is Peter Rabbit 2 a charming, funny and well-acted flick with a very effective meta sense of humour, but it fixes pretty much everything awful from the first film. This time around, Peter Rabbit (James Corden) is likeable, the writing is far sturdier and the mean-spirited tone that plagued the first film is completely gone.

It still has its issues, of course, and Beatrix Potter purists probably won't quite gel with it, but considering how terrible it looked, the fact that this actually turned out to be good makes it a thoroughly satisfying watch.
