16 Delayed 2021 Movies That Were Actually Worth Waiting For

11. Stillwater

No Time to Die Daniel Craig
Focus Features

Like a few of the films on this list, Stillwater undeservedly bombed at the box office and that's a damn shame. Ignoring the controversy this film - which is inspired by the Amanda Knox case - caused, Stillwater has a hell of a lot going for it.

It's a very interesting, unpredictable and intelligently understated crime drama that really pulls you in and gets you invested in the characters, who are brought to life with an excellent cast. In particular, Matt Damon gives arguably one of his best performances in the lead role and he does a wonderful job playing a different kind of character to the ones he normally plays.

The film might not quite measure up to director Tom McCarthy's previous film, the Oscar-winning Spotlight, and it does lose control of itself a bit towards the end but nonetheless, this is a very worthwhile movie indeed and one of the year's best pre-award season dramas.
