16 Delayed 2021 Movies That Were Actually Worth Waiting For

10. Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings

Ever since Avengers: Infinity War was released in 2018, the MCU has been running out of steam. Most of the recent films have had little punch and the Disney+ TV shows have also been a mixed bag, with the superb WandaVision being followed by the dispiritingly mediocre The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Aside from Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: No Way Home (more on that soon), Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is the one other post-Infinity War MCU joint that has genuinely worked.

It still doesn't represent this once-great franchise at its best, mainly because the hero is the least interesting part of the film, but Shang-Chi is a very fun and largely successful superhero flick overall.

It's a visually stunning, intelligently witty and consistently thrilling action film blessed with wonderful world-building and more importantly still, despite the mistakes made with the lead hero the film is otherwise full of excellently written characters.

Tony Leung's Mandarin is superb and one of the MCU's best villains, while Awkwafina's comedy sidekick is an absolute joy and most of the other characters are very interesting too. Therefore, unlike with several of the other recent MCU films, this film represents a successful mixture of style and substance.

All in all, this has more than earned its worldwide success. Bring on the sequel!
