16 Delayed 2021 Movies That Were Actually Worth Waiting For

12. The Forever Purge

No Time to Die Daniel Craig
Blumhouse Productions

Much like Peter Rabbit 2, this isn't a film anyone was looking forward to very much since it really felt like The Purge had run its course at this point. The TV show was unsuccessful and the third film provided what would've been a good ending to the story.

Therefore, The Forever Purge ended up being another one of the most pleasantly surprising sequels of the year.

It certainly shouldn't be mistaken for a smart film since, much like with the other Purge films, the social commentary is unsubtle and incredibly on-the-nose, but as an action-horror film The Forever Purge is honestly something of a firecracker.

Not only is it a steely, violent and relentlessly punchy thrill ride that delivers one kick-ass set-piece after another, but it also has a surprisingly compelling and hugely suspenseful plot that forwards the whole storyline of the franchise in a very interesting way and is full of nerve-wracking twists and turns.

As a result, what originally seemed like an unnecessary franchise extension totally justified its existence and as blunt and imperfect as it may be, The Forever Purge is great fun and quite arguably the best Purge film so far.

This was originally meant to be the last Purge film, but a sixth film is now in development and after this, that actually feels perfectly acceptable.
