16 Horror Films Worth Getting Excited About In 2016
8. Holidays
What's not to love about a holiday themed horror movie? There have been plenty of great entries in that subgenre, but an upcoming film will be giving us eight special occasions for the price of one. Holidays is a new anthology where every segment will revolve around a specific holiday including Halloween, Christmas, Easter and even Mother's Day.
Some of the notable directors who will be participating are Kevin Smith, Gary Shore (Dracula Untold) and Kevin Kolsch (Starry Eyes). Kevin Smith revealed that his segment is called "Hollow Ian," so he's obviously got the Halloween part of the movie covered.
The poster suggests these guys really care about horror, as it's a brilliant throwback to the marketing of classic '70s and '80s slasher flicks. Eight segments might seem like a lot for a 90 minute movie, but the recent anthology Tales of Halloween managed to be excellent and scary with ten segments, so it's not impossible.
If Holidays can come anywhere close to that consistency, it'll be a real treat.
It's expected sometime in 2016, although we don't yet have a release date. When would you even put out a movie like this, and when's the appropriate time to watch it? This is going to be like the debate over when's the best time to watch The Nightmare Before Christmas taken to the next level.
