17 Superhero Movies That Were Nominated For Oscars
13. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Nominated For: Best Achievement In Visual Effects
The third sequel in the MCU to receive an Oscar nomination, The Winter Soldier is a much better film than Iron Man 2 but it couldn't compete against Christopher Nolan's Interstellar, which beat it to the Academy Award.
Still, the movie was awarded at other ceremonies, winning Best Stunt Rigging at the World Stunt Awards, Best Comic Book Adaptation at the IGN Summer Movie Awards and Best Superhero Film at the Matchflick Flicker Awards.
In what's surely a first for the MCU, it also picked up Best Portrayal Of Washington DC at the Washington DC Area Film Critics Association Awards.
Small world dept: Scarlett Johansson was once again nominated for Best T&A at the Golden Schmoes and once again, she lost - this time to Eva Green in Sin City: A Dame To Kill For.
