Steven Spielberg's masterpiece Schindler's List was one of the first mainstream movies about the Holocaust, and for many viewers, it was perhaps the most vivid depiction of these events that they'd ever seen, with nothing being quite as difficult to watch as the Liquidation of the Krakow Ghetto. 

Despite this whole film being such a departure for Spielberg, it still sees him playing to his greatest strengths as a filmmaker. He's always been a master of drawing viewers into his stories, using a variety of clever tricks ranging from character-level shots to subtle long-takes. Schindler's List took that to a new level, with Spielberg shooting the whole thing like a documentary. This approach is especially potent during the liquidation scene, as Spielberg fully immerses the audience in a harrowing and unflinchingly brutal display of cruelty in which scores of innocent people are graphically murdered, including many children.

Speaking of which, it is during this scene that Oskar Schindler famously sees a little girl in a red coat, with her coat being one of the few instances of colour in the black-and-white film. This is called back to later on, when Schindler sees that same girl among the dead. This entire sequence is more disturbing than most horror movies could ever dream of being, not least because it really happened. For many people, Schindler's List is too much to watch again, and this sequence is probably one of the main reasons why.
