Almost was: Rocket By now Adam Sandler seems to give up an facade that he's making films for any reason other than the money/an excuse to go on holiday with his chums. It would be nice for him to occasionally think of the audiences who put him in that position in the first place and make something good, but we guess quality is hard and fart jokes mean more time at the bar. That should contextualise the worry amongst Marvel fans when Sandler was a name, along with Carrey, linked to voicing Rocket (or Groot). Did it fall through because Marvel didn't want anything to tar their big risk or because Sandler couldn't bear to bring his RottenTomatoes score up? Probably the former. Between him and Carrey it's clear Marvel were wanting a comedian to voice Rocket to compliment the film's lighter tone. And they couldn't have got better than Cooper.
