15. The Electrolux Vacuum Cleaner & Beeman's Gum - Tomorrowland

source // Disney
It's pretty clear that nobody saw Tomorrowland and that even fewer really appreciated it. That much is a shame, as the film was actually a pleasant enough romp through nostalgia that did have an admirable agenda, even if it was a little more insistent than it needed to be. In amongst the references to Brad Bird's past works (look out for Simpsons character cameos, the Incredibles and the Iron Giant), there's a couple of very clever nods to Disney's The Rocketeer. Firstly, the jet-pack yougn Frank presents to Nix at the World's Fair is made from an Electrolux vacuum cleaner: the same brand that FBI are fooled with in The Rocketeer when he makes a switcheroo. Secondly, when Casey's belongings are returned after she's arrested they include Beeman's gum, the same brand that is not only used as a lucky charm in The Rocketeer, but which is also used to fix a hole in the jetpack.
