20 Failed Movie Plans That'll Ruin Your Day

14. A Star Wars Jedi Origin Movie

Truth be told, this entire list could be filled with abandoned Star Wars projects that could easily make your blood boil, from live-action bounty hunter TV shows helmed by George Lucas and Lucas's own sequel trilogy, which he had plotted before Lucasfilm was sold to Disney back in 2012.

Perhaps the most egregious loss in the big screen world of Star Wars, though, has to be a reported trilogy films written and directed by Game of Thrones' showrunners D. B. Weiss and David Benioff, centred on the origins of the Jedi.

The story goes that, in 2019, the TV duo were working closely with then-Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and director Rian Johnson to produce at least three movies exploring the early days of the Jedi, detailing their struggles, their worldview, and the birth of the Jedi Order.

Unfortunately, the plan was abandoned after Weiss and Benioff signed a major deal to produce original content with Netflix, and so the origins will have to wait. Which is a shame, given how much ground there is to cover with so complex a backstory.
