It's ironic that this ending was so amazing, since the terrible first film had one of the worst superhero movie finales ever and a battle against a giant alien starfish sounds really stupid, so that makes this masterpiece of a climax even more satisfying.
Filled with brilliant visuals, stomach-churning horror, thought-provoking political commentary, white-knuckle action, hysterical gags and, believe it or not, heart-warming character moments, The Suicide Squad's final battle is a joyous, beautifully crafted and absurdly entertaining slice of cinematic madness that'll have viewers punching the air and cheering from start to finish.
After all, not only is this thrilling as hell and not only does it wrap up the characters' stories in an incredibly satisfying way, but it's just so wonderful seeing such creative, witty and brilliantly kaleidoscopic cinema on the big screen - especially considering that it's in a superhero film, a genre which does often suffer from being too samey.
So yes, this is quite arguably the greatest movie moment of 2021... and it's from a DCEU film in which one of the lead characters in a humanoid shark. Life really is full of pleasant surprises.
