20 Horror Monsters That Were Scarier Before You Saw Them

Basket Case centres around Duane, who was born conjoined to his grotesquely deformed twin, Belial. When Belial was removed and left to die, Duane found him and vowed to kill the surgeons who separated them.

In the sequels, Duane and Belial are adopted by the mysterious Granny Ruth, who was inspired to help people with extreme deformities after her son, Little Hal, was born heavily disfigured.

Little Hal is rarely seen in Basket Case 3, but his presence can always be felt. Ruth's living room is adorned with a painting of her boy as a baby, showing he was born with multiple limbs. When the now fully-grown Little Hal appears later, the camera deliberately obscures his body. But when he's unveiled in all his glory, it doesn't have much oomph.

To look at Little Hal, his numerous arms clearly belong to crewmembers hiding behind an unconvincing prosthetic body, mitigating potential scares. More importantly, Little Hal doesn't do anything. He waves at the camera for a few seconds before the scene moves on, making this reveal feel gimmicky.

Although Belial's reveal in the original Basket Case was 10/10, this one was a major misfire.
