20 Horror Movies Nobody Expected To Be Good
7. Final Destinations Bloodlines (2025)
The Final Destination franchise is single-handedly responsible for making moviegoers think twice before getting on a plane or a rollercoaster. Despite the series' rocky critical reception, each of the five initial instalments performed exceedingly well at the box office and contained their own collection of squeamishly elaborate deaths.
When the sixth entry, Final Destination Bloodlines, was announced 14 years after Final Destination 5 brought the series full circle, audiences wondered how directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein could keep the franchise feeling fresh. From the opening skyscraper sequence, it was clear that Final Destination was back and better than ever.
Not only did Bloodlines revel in the series' brand of dark comedy, but it also delivered some of the most inventively gruesome deaths in the franchise's history. Moreover, by shifting Death's vengeance to a family's entire lineage, the feature introduced an exciting new twist to what had become a tired formula while also connecting back to the previous outings in meaningful ways. This included a bittersweet farewell to the late acting legend Tony Todd in what was his final screen appearance.
Receiving the series' highest critical score to date, Bloodlines surpassed all expectations.
