After appearing in a collection of underground short films alongside gruesome anthology flick All Hallows' Eve, Art the Clown would go on to become a modern horror icon when Terrifier hit screens in 2016.

Written, directed, produced, and edited by Damien Leone, Terrifier was a micro-budget slice of visceral grindhouse cinema that quickly earned a reputation among genre fans through word of mouth. The buzz grew so much that news of a sequel sparked a lot of excitement within horror circles.

Despite being helmed once again by Leone, Terrifier 2's mammoth runtime of over two hours raised some eyebrows. After all, Terrifier's main appeal was its relentless and grungy style, and so, the sequel's prolonged runtime left moviegoers questioning if it was possible to sustain the carnage for that long.

Thankfully, Leone proved doubters wrong when Terrifier 2 arrived in cinemas in 2022. Alongside making the violence even more unapologetically stomach-churning than before - to the point there were reports of audience members fainting - Leone used the expanded narrative to transform the franchise from a small slasher into an epic showdown of good against evil.

It was ambitious, disturbing, darkly comedic, and even fantastical at points. In short, Terrifier 2 demonstrated what this franchise could be.
