20 Idiotic Decisions Made By Characters In The Harry Potter Films
5. Why Did The Order Of The Phoenix Put Harry With Hagrid?
During the 7 Harrys escape, six junior members of the Order of the Phoenix volunteer to take Harry-flavored Polyjuice Potion, which they hope will fool the Death Eaters hoping to catch Harry as he leaves the Dursleys for good. The six will go with more qualified wizards who will act as their protectors. The real Harry is tasked to go with Hagrid. In the ensuing battle, Mad-Eye Moody is killed and George Weasley is injured. Hagrid is not a fully qualified wizard, having been expelled from Hogwarts fifty years earlier. Hes too big to ride a broom, so he pulls the old flying motorcycle out of storage for him and Harry to ride. So why is he Harrys chosen guardian? His bulk and half-giant heritage offer some protection, but hes a bit short on tactics for avoiding Voldemort. Plus, Harry is the best Seeker in a generation at Hogwarts, and he owns a Firebolt, the fastest broom in service. The Order would have done better to leave Hagrid at the Burrow, kick Mundungus Fletcher off the team, and have Lupin or Arthur as Harrys wingman.
