18. Just About Every Actress In Hollywood Was Considered To Play Sarah Connor
It's difficult to imagine anyone in the Sarah Connor role other than Linda Hamilton, but she wasn't, it's safe to say, the first choice (or the second, or the third, or the...). In order to get the part, Hamilton had to rely on just about every woman in Hollywood turning the role down first. After Bridget Fonda - who Cameron wrote the part for - rejected an offer, and her replacement Tatum O'Neal was dropped for being too young, Debra Winger was Cameron's next choice; she turned it down after winning the part in auditions. Glenn Close was the next to be chosen, but she wasn't available prior to filming - neither was Kate Capshaw, nor Kathleen Turner, nor Daryl Hannah, while Julia Louis-Dreyfus was forced to turn the part down due to commitments on SNL. Michelle Pfeiffer, Diane Lane, Carrie Fisher, Sharone Stone, Susan Sarandon, Sigourney Weaver, Jodie Foster, Diane Keaton, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jessica Lange, Sissy Spacek, Mia Farrow and many, many others were all up for consideration before, finally, Cameron landed on Hamilton.
