2. Cub (2014)
This has the potential to be the breakout foreign horror of recent years. Not only was it chosen for the Midnight Madness section of the Toronto Film Festival, it has a great trailer and music from Steve Moore, a member the Italian horror rock band Goblin. The film focuses on a group of scouts as they go on an overnight trip into the woods. One of the boys, Sam, is convinced he can see a monster in the trees and, although no-one believes him, he becomes convinced a feral child is watching them. To make matters worse, it becomes apparent that a psychopathic huntsman is picking them off one-by-one with a serious of deadly forest traps. Itll take the bullied and lonely Sam to stand up to these deadly foes. The advance word is great with many saying that first time director Jonas Govaerts has channelled classic backwoods horror via William Goldings Lord Of The Flies. This film promises to be a great foreign horrors in the tradition of Haute Tension, Them and even the thrills of Troll Hunter. Either way, this one might be one of the most anticipated horrors on this list.
