11. Escape From Frank's House (Tomorrowland)
Tomorrowland was a bit of a jumbled mess but it wasnt completely without good moments. It seems that thanks to his days in animation, director Brad Bird has realized that nothing is impossible in film, and thus, the action sequences hes able to create here are often fascinatingly creative. Case in point: when Casey and Frank escape from his house. Threatened by a horde of nearly-unstoppable robots, George Clooneys Frank unleashes a litany of science-fiction gadgets to stop them. From the laser grid hed set up to the portal-like teleportation ring, the inventiveness of the sequence was off the charts. Its this fun adventurous spirit that was lost for most of the film but made this short sequence so enjoyable. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yp-qsp_oX0M The whole thing is capped off with the two of them launching out of the roof via a bathtub-turned-rocket, a perfect symbol for the zany set piece, and one that made everyone wish Tomorrowland had delivered a little more on its bigger promises.
