20 Most Iconic Movie Deaths Of All Time
14. Bonnie Parker And Clyde Barrow - Bonnie And Clyde (1967)
Arthur Penn's dramatized tale of the legendary outlaws was one of the most influential movies of the 1960's. Helping usher in the American New Wave of filmmaking, the crime story landed eight Academy Award nominations including Best Picture, Director, Screenplay, Actor and Actress and earned $50.7m at the domestic box office (which is equivalent to well over $350m when adjusted for inflation).
While the movie may take some liberties with the story in the name of entertainment, Bonnie and Clyde is without a doubt a landmark in American cinema, both for its depictions of violence and use of sound design and editing for maximum impact. This is especially true during the scene where the title characters meet their iconic demise after being double-crossed, with the heavily-squibbed duo being absolutely riddled with an ever-so-slightly excessive number of bullets in slow-motion as the sound of gunfire roars.
