20 Most Rewatchable Horror Movies Of All Time

6. Psycho (1960)

The Shining Jack Nicholson
Paramount Pictures

Psycho isn't just a sublime thriller, it is simply one of the greatest movies ever. This is the pinnacle of Alfred Hitchcock’s film career. It’s clever, engaging, perfectly acted, formidable and filmed in stunning black and white cinematography.

By today's standards, most people know of the famous shower scene in which Marion Crane meets her violent death. But during its first release, this was one of most unexpected plot twists of all time. The trailers for the film were advertised without any hint of Marion’s death and instead sets her up as if she’s the ‘Psycho’ in question. If you go into the film unaware of her demise, it’s a completely unexpected moment. The other brilliant plot twist is how Norman Bates was “mother” the entire time.

Because of how the story is constructed, Psycho only gets better and better with each viewing. There is always a little detail which you’ll pick up on with a second watch and even when you know the plot twists, they never lose their shock value.
