If the Godzilla sequel was a case of excellent marketing making a bad movie look good, Fighting with My Family was basically the exact opposite of that.

The trailers painted this dramatisation of WWE star Paige's (Florence Pugh) rise to fame as nothing more than a generic, corny inspirational sports drama, but in actual fact, the film was so much more than that.

The marketing suggested heavily mixed reviews at best, only for it to end up with a jaw-dropping 92%, with most critics praising the performances - especially a wonderful Florence Pugh - and its unexpectedly nuanced and affecting screenplay.

Given how so many expected a highly sanitised end product given WWE's direct involvement, Fighting with My Family proved surprisingly honest and upfront about what it takes to make it in the wild world of "sports entertainment."
