20 Recent Movie Twists That Fell Completely Flat

Him was one of 2025's most disappointing horror films by far. An American Football-themed horror produced by Jordan Peele and featuring Marlon Wayans doing one of his all-too-rare dramatic performances should've been so much better than the film we ultimately got. Him looks fantastic but the script is a complete zero that forgets to come up with much of a plot, with what there is being foreseeable in advance. Most notably, the climactic reveal is a right snoozer. 

It turns out that American Football superstar Isaiah White (Wayans) is the latest in a long-line of GOAT players, which have absorbed each other's skills by ritually ingesting each other's blood... or something. The mechanics of the ritual aren't very well-explained and it's just not an interesting plot development in general, not least because it was totally predictable. 

Most viewers will have guessed far in advance that the big reveal would be something along these lines and this was particularly damaging since this is one of those films where a good revelation could've actually done a lot to save it.
