6. Too Many Lens Flares - In the Lost Lands

Paul W.S. Anderson's new action fantasy film In the Lost Lands was probably always doomed, because despite touting source material from Game of Thrones' George R.R. Martin, the marketing made it look both boring and ugly.

But even if you can overlook just how plastic and video game-y the movie's green-screened aesthetic is, Anderson made one utterly baffling aesthetic choice that proves distracting throughout the entire movie.

All those damn lens flares.

Basically every single light seen in the film gives off an obnoxiously massive lens flare, ensuring that scenes with numerous light sources feel like a genuine attempt at parodying J.J, Abrams' infamous love of flares.

It's a bold aesthetic choice, but ultimately one that falls flat because it's just intensely distracting in every single one of the movie's scenes.

If it's pulling the audience's attention away from the story, characters, and action, then it's clearly failed in its artistic intent.
