It's a pretty crucial part of his story that he suffers from amnesia and up until Days Of Future Past, the specific reason for that memory loss was an Adamantium bullet fired into his brain by Stryker that did less damage than he thought it would.

So, that makes the fact that Logan somehow remembers his time in World War II, his heroic acts to save a man and the atomic bomb detonation during The Wolverine all the more confusing. Either he lied about the extent of his memory loss or someone just forgot about it.
