20 Summer 2018 Films You Aren't Excited About (But Should Be)
14. The Purge: The Island
The Blumhouse-produced dystopian horror series, set in an imagined near-future America where all crime is legal for one night a year, reaches its fourth instalment. This time around it's a prequel, detailing how the very first Purge took place in a single location: Staten Island, New York.
No doubt we can expect plenty more of the thrills, chills, and thinly veiled social/political commentary the series has given us so far. However, James DeMonaco, writer-director of all the Purge films to date, is only on script duties this time, with Gerard McMurray (Burning Sands) taking over behind the camera.
Release: 4th July US, no UK release date confirmed yet.
