20 Terrible 2014 Movies That Should Never Have Happened
10. No Good Deed
Rotten Tomatoes Score: 10% It's difficult to see what attracted Idris Elba to this glorified straight-to-video home invasion thriller, which without his presence is likely exactly where it would've wound up. Though Elba and Taraji P. Henson are serviceable in the roles of maniac and victim respectively, No Good Deed is a silly thriller from start to finish that doesn't have the good sense to at least make fun of its own absurdity. Not a single major thriller trope is left untouched here, and as such there's absolutely no tension throughout: every plot beat can be predicted by a metronome, and even when a third-act plot twist is thrown in for good measure, it's more hilarious than shocking. So much of this film makes so little sense, and it's surely an effort its two talented leads would rather soon enough forget, as both they and audiences certainly will.
