20 Terrible 2014 Movies That Should Never Have Happened
15. The Expendables 3
Rotten Tomatoes Score: 32% What a huge let-down. After enjoying tremendous commercial success with the first two R-rated Expendables movies, Lionsgate got greedy and tried to make even more bank with the PG-13-rated Expendables 3, all while forgetting that a) fans of 80s action aren't interested in PG-13 and b) teenagers don't give a damn about Stallone, Arnie and so on. The result was the worst and lowest-grossing film of the series, a ridiculously tame action film which toned the gore down almost completely and as such felt like a betrayal of everything the previous two films were about. Sure, the banter was still decent and seeing the likes of Harrison Ford, Wesley Snipes and Antonio Banderas come aboard was pretty cool, but they're not really given much to do, and the action is really lacking compared to the other films. Also, the decision to focus on the gang of new, young Expendables was ill-advised, because it's a blatant attempt to pander to teenagers who simply don't have much interest in this franchise to begin with. Know your audience, Lionsgate, and get it back on track for The Expendables 4, which Stallone has promised will be R-rated.
