20 TERRIFYING Scenes In TERRIBLE Horror Movies
10. Peter Becomes A Pod - Troll (1986)
1986's Troll is technically the first film in the Troll trilogy, even though both "sequels" - including the now-infamous Troll 2 - have absolutely nothing to do with the original and don't even feature trolls.
The '86 film may be better than its dubious successors, but it's still not good by any serious metric - 82 minutes of slapdash nonsense elevated by some admittedly impressive practical effects and an amusing early role for Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
There's also one genuinely horrific sequence in which the character of Peter, played by Sonny Bono - yes, that Sonny Bono - is attacked by Torok the Troll (Phil Fondacaro) and turned into a pod.
After Torok activates his magic ring, Peter begins the agonising mutation process, his flesh bubbling and pulsating as he progressively transforms into a green pod which then spawns plant life.
Peter is implied to be alive and conscious throughout the entire grotesque process, ensuring this was pure, uncut nightmare fuel for many a kid who rented the VHS in the '80s.
