20 TERRIFYING Scenes In TERRIBLE Horror Movies
11. The Razor-Wire Bloodbath - Ghost Ship
Look no further for proof of Ghost Ship's badness than the fact that precious few people actually remember anything about it beyond its opening scene, which might well be the fastest and hardest that any horror film has ever peaked.
This mostly naff supernatural horror flick absolutely rips for its literally gut-wrenching first five minutes, where we witness the doomed passengers of the SS Antonia Graza meet their grisly fate.
An unseen force pulls a lever, causing a huge spool of razor wire to cut through the dance floor, slicing everyone into meaty chunks save for a young girl (Emily Browning) who was too short for the wire to touch.
The idea is harrowing enough, but the stunning effects work - fusing practical and digital wizardry in a harmonious union - ensures that precious little is left to the imagination.
As unlikely a scenario as this is to befall any of us, director Steve Beck milks it for every visceral drop. Shame about the rest of the movie, though.
