6. Project Mayhem Member Continuity
Continuity is the bare minimum you expect from a great film or TV show. You want things to not contradict what has already been said, and you like it when old characters come back rather than just disappearing without any explanation. However, Fight Club takes it a step further with the members that eventually join Project Mayhem.
Anyone good with faces (and I’ll admit that that’s not me, so this one took me by surprise) will notice that almost all of the members of Project Mayhem were people who we saw in earlier scenes. Yes, before they even joined the club. Some of them are more obvious with others, like the ones who the earliest members started fights with as part of Tyler’s homework assignment, but others are just in the background for a few seconds.
Often when we see the same actor in multiple roles, we think of it as sloppy writing. But the unsaid progression of those people joining the club too is one which really breathes life into this movie.
