20 Things You Didn't Know About Batman & Robin

16. It Cost Chris O'Donnell A Robin Spinoff

Comic book spinoffs are everywhere these days, but Warner Bros. were looking to get ahead of the game almost 25 years ago when they were formulating plans to give Chris O'Donnell's Robin his own solo movie, provided Batman & Robin was a success. Which it most definitely was not.

The actor himself has admitted that the movie's dismal performance saw the studios hit the brakes on the spinoff, and O'Donnell has arguably never again managed to reach the heights of his mid-90s heyday, having been tainted by association.

Given the overall quality of the Schumacher era, a Robin spinoff could have turned out to be terrible, but it's nonetheless a shame that circumstances out of his control cost O'Donnell what would have been one of the biggest paydays of his career.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
