10. RFK's Assassination Was Never Broadcast Live
On June 5, 1968, Robert F. Kennedy made a speech at the Los Angeles Ambassador Hotel. The 42-year-old brother of the late President was thanking the country and celebrating his wins in the California and South Dakota Presidential Primaries earlier that that night.
After his speech, he was escorted to the kitchen, where Sirhan Sirhan drew a revolver and didn't stop firing even as George Plympton and football player Rosey Grier tried to wrestle the gun from his hand. Five other people were wounded in that kitchen, but Kennedy was the only fatality.
In the film, his assassination occurs the night before Garrison's big case against Shaw begins, only driving him further. This scene was one of many that drew criticism from historians and senators as well as others who witnessed either assassination. RFK's assassination was never broadcast live.
