20 Things You Somehow Missed In Collateral
2. The Film Marked A Rare Milestone In Tom Cruise's Filmography
Throughout his 40-plus-year career, Tom Cruise has largely played heroic roles and this is especially true in his action movies. While some of his dramatic roles have had shades of gray in their morality, Collateral was only the second time that the 61-year-old actor had played an outright villainous character.
The first time that Cruise took on an antagonistic role was in 1994's Interview with the Vampire, where he played the vampiric aristocrat Lestat (though the character was conceived as an antihero in the books).
All that said, Vincent is far more chilling than Lestat (or Cruise's comedic role as Les Grossman in Tropic Thunder) due to his nihilistic and methodical nature as well as Cruise's engrossingly mechanical performance.
