20 Things You Somehow Missed In Collateral
3. Vincent's Skill With Firearms Ended Up Being His Undoing
As mentioned before, Tom Cruise prepared extensively to convey Vincent's skill with firearms and the assassin's lethal skillsets are on full display in the motion picture. Despite this great advantage (or more so because of it), Vincent's particular means of using a gun was his undoing during his climactic shootout with Max.
Pewpew Tactical demonstrates that what Vincent employed throughout Collateral is called the "Mozambique Drill", a shooting technique that sees the gunman shoot their opponent twice in the chest before shooting them in the head. Because of this, the mercenary hits the door instead of Max's chest and the cabbie uses this opening to fatally wound Vincent.
This scene highlights the sheer amount of luck that Max had throughout the film, as well as Vincent's single-minded nature getting the better of him.
