After the opening scene featuring the characters known only as Pumpkin and Honey Bunny, the movie moved on to its first of three chapters and two of the most iconic characters that would appear over the next two-plus hours, Vincent and Jules.

Nothing is known about them to begin with, but they are clearly professionals and good at what they do. As they take their guns out of the car, wishing that they were shotguns, they did a body count of the situation they were about to get themselves into.

According to their intel, they would be met by either four or five people. That was established solidly. Four or five people. When they went in however, there were only three. Big-brained Brett, the man Jules called Flock of Seagulls, and Marvin. They should have absolutely realised that there was someone else in there hiding.

When the fourth man burst out of the bathroom brandishing the gun bigger than he was he caught Jules off guard. He could have, and should have killed him, but Jules shouldn’t have had to rely on the supposed divine intervention that saved him. He can count past three, so why didn’t they do a search of the entire apartment first, knowing that there should have been at least one more body?
