3. Gravity
You think Sandra Bullock had it tough floating off into space with the threat of certain death hanging over her? She at least had help from improbably handy space stations, whereas Star Trek: First Contact's poor red shirt Neal McDonough was assimilated by marauding Borg, and then shot off into the unforgiving void of space by Commander Worf.
2. Captain Picard
Forget Captain Phillips' survival of Somali pirates, a truly gripping story would be that of Starfleet captain Jean-Luc Picard, whose vessel was captured by cruel, inhuman Ferengi pirates intent on extorting profit from their spoils, and his defiant stand for survival against the odds. Naturally, given his experience, it would take the Borg-surviving, all-action Captain considerably less time to overcome his captors than nice guy Tom Hanks.
