25 Best Anime Supervillains Of All Time
15. Justice - Afro Samurai
There’s no doubt in my mind Justice would be closer to the No. 1 spot if Afro Samurai had a longer-running series, but his couple of cameos is nevertheless to earn this ghoulish gunslinger a spot.
Let’s start with the visuals. Afro Samurai is illustrated so well that you could have a karaoke-signing frog as the main antagonist and it would still look cool, but Justice is designed to scream badass. The rotting flesh, the psychedelic, screech-rock/cowboy look, the sweetest set of revolvers that also double in a sword fight; the show could have no audio and I’d still be in.
But then comes in that gravelly, bass-ridden voice provided by Ron Perlman and you start to think: “I wonder if I’ve ever seen a character tied together so well..”
And if that wasn’t enough, Justice’s backstory is that he killed out main character’s dad in front of his eyes as a boy, so we’ve got the genuine vendetta out for him, and we only like him more for it.
We’ll never see a character like Justice in anime again. A wraith-like assassin cowboy in a world of ninjas and samurais who only cares about himself.
Sounds like every love story I’ve ever heard.
