Plot: Peter Parker finds himself with two new foes, Electro and Rhino, and discovers that they both have the same thing in common: OsCorp. Now that they have re-established Peter Parker's origin story, this will be the movie where we really see the rebooted franchise start to come into its own. My main worry with the second film is the amount of villains that appear to be in it. Electro, Rhino, and possibly the Green Goblin? It will be interesting to see how the filmmakers maintain the proper balance to keep the film from juggling too many characters, which was a big problem with Spider-Man 3. Still, you can't complain too much about the casting of Jamie Foxx, Paul Giamatti, and Dane DeHaan in those roles, respectively. Dane DeHaan has really started to come on strong in the past few years. For a young actor (seriously, how is he 27? He looks like a teenager), he really seems to have found success playing weird, offbeat characters. It will be nice to see him play one of Parker's foils, I just hope he gets enough of a chance to shine, like with everyone else. With Marc Webb having one Spider-Man film under his belt, I will be particularly interested in seeing how he handles the action this time around. He did a solid job with the first film, but watching Spider-Man weaving around all the destruction in the trailer, things look a bit smoother, a little more thrilling. Of course, trailers can make anything look awesome so it's important to keep expectations measured. Although, with screenwriters Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci involved (Transformers trilogy, Cowboys & Aliens, Star Trek), that should not be too difficult. Their involvement with the film is a bit worrisome for me. U.S. Release Date: May 2nd
