25 Shocking CGI Movie Moments That Left You Speechless
19. The T-1000's Liquid Metal - Terminator 2: Judgment Day
It's an unwritten rule that a franchise has to go bigger in just about every department in its second outing if it wants any hope of outdoing or improving what came before it. Of course, most sequels fail to live up to the original, but one of the best examples of this being pulled off is Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
Everything was better, with one of the standouts of the project being Robert Patrick's T-1000, and the insane technology used to bring him to life. He was supposed to be an upgraded version of Arnie's T-800, and without such outstanding visual effects, this simply would not have been possible.
One of the biggest improvements of the T-1000 was that it was made out of liquid metal, something that should have been impossible to portray back in 1991. In theory, it should have looked awful, and the film by extension should have fallen apart, since so much hinged on the threat of a villain that could shapeshift into other humans and survive bullet wounds, yet here we are.
There are plenty of moments in the film to pick from where this is portrayed immaculately well, in particular, the T-1000 seamlessly walking through a set of prison bars, and the result of gunshot wounds and attacks simply melting away.
