Malcolm Tierney played Shann Childsen, an Imperial officer on the Death Star, in the first Star Wars. He also appeared in In the Name Of The Father with Daniel Day Lewis, the Mel Gibson film Braveheart, in 1997's The Saint with Val Kilmer, and turned up on Doctor Who in 1986's The Trial Of A Time Lord. On stage, Tierney performed with The Royal Shakespeare Company. He passed away from pulmonary fibrosis in February 2014 at the age of 75. His obituary was penned in part by Vanessa Redgrave, with whom he shared the stage.
