30 Behind The Scenes Shots That Completely Change The Tone Of Great Movies

15. Spielberg Hangs Out With Bruce

One of the scariest movies in history didn't even show its main antagonist until halfway through the movie. Jaws created a generation of moviegoers who were terrified to go into the ocean and inspired video games, theme park rides, awful sequels, and countless "sea creature" monster movies. Here, we see director Steven Spielberg relaxing in the mouth of Jaws, nicknamed "Bruce" after Spielberg's lawyer (now you know where Finding Nemo got their name for the shark). There's something about seeing a shirtless dude in jean shorts and high socks relaxing in the mouth of an unstoppable killing machine that makes you question many things.

14. 'Tis Merely A Flesh Wound

Like every single one of his other movies, Kill Bill Volume 1 is a gory and bloody affair directed by Quentin Tarentino. Shortly after the massacre of about 80 people inside Lucy Liu's bad guy hangout, the Bride confronts her in the snow-covered garden and proceeds to cut the top of her head off. The whole thing is incredibly violent to the point of comedy but Liu's death is played as a serious moment. Watching Lucy Liu clown around with the top of her head oozing brain matter is not a sight that you see everyday. We're not sure if this changes how people look at the movie or if people will simply be more impressed with the makeup work.

13. Mini King Kong

1933's version of King Kong still holds up today as one of the best monster movies made in movie history. The stop-motion animation of King Kong and the other inhabitants of Skull Island were revolutionary at the time and presented a horror that most movies fans at the time had never seen. Skull Island is presented as a vast and sweeping prehistoric island where natives worship a massive gorilla who battles Tyrannosaurus Rexs, prehistoric birds, and various other nightmarish creatures. When you're presented with the miniatures that are used though, Kong loses some of his magic. Instead of Fay Wray screaming for her life in Kong's hand, you're presented with what looks like a crudely made doll that might lose its head at any moment.
