Valora Noland was born Valor Baum on 8th December 1941, the day after Pearl Harbour. Her mother named her Valor, inspired by a speech given by Winston Churchill. She took Valora Noland as a stage name and appeared in several films and television projects. In Star Trek, she played Daras in the episode Patterns of Force.

She actually retired from acting early on and the bulk of her career was spent as a photographer and writer. She then went by the name Valora Tree, publishing two works - Horse Stories, and Water Lily Ponds, which is a volume of poetry.

In fact, she was a skilled equestrian, owning and training several horses throughout her life. Baum's IMDb lists Star Trek as one of the reasons she left acting. Her family had fled Nazi Germany in the years before her birth, and the Nazi iconography that Daras wears in the episode was added after Baum had already accepted the role. Though she was upset by the inclusion of the swastika on her costume, shooting continued as planned, though she regretted her involvement in the episode afterward.

She passed away at age 80 in Sebastapol, California, where she had lived for many years.
