4 Reasons Why The Avengers is The Greatest Comic Book Movie Ever

2. The Epic Action Sequences

The Avengers did not skimp on the action. The opening montage showing the complete destruction of the S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters by the effects of the misbehaving Tessaract set the tone for the rest of the film: big, bold, and brass. What followed was nothing less than one action sequence trying to outdo the last, from the Avengers scuffle in the woods, to the damaging of The HeliCarrier, and finally to the near annihilation of downtown Manhattan by Loki€™s Chitauri army. This progression of scenes was exactly what it was going to take to bring an Avengers film into today€™s current blockbuster climate. We, as an audience, have been spoiled by the likes of the Transformer films and other summer over-indulgences over the past decade. Over the top is the new norm, and if it€™s not done bigger, better, and louder than the last guy, it€™s only going to come across as a ho-hum experience. And the writers and filmmakers gave us just what we wanted with The Avengers: an epic climax, with a finale starring The Hulk, let loose in all his smashing glory onto the Chitauri army and one unsuspecting Loki. If there was ever a way to close the show in grandest fashion, it would be this way, with our team coming together and turning The Hulk loose on the bad guys.
