5 Awesome Bond Themes and 5 That Sucked

...and 5 That Sucked.

5. Live and Let Die

http://youtu.be/s0FNckgqtlA Okay, now might be a good time to remind everyone that this is not a referendum on good or bad songs, rather how the songs function as James Bond themes. I€™m sure my multiple disclaimers will do nothing to stop anyone from getting butt-hurt about any of these songs (especially this one). I also know that there are a dozen songs between the five best and five worst, but my decision is final. No matter what anyone says this song does NOT work as a Bond theme, especially considering the orchestral breaks composed and arranged by famed beatles producer George Martin. That leaves McCartney and Wings contribution as the paltry opening and the truly strange tonal shift in the middle that sounds more like a sitcom intro than anything else. €œYou€™ve got to give the other fellow help!€ You know what Bond doesn€™t have to do? He doesn€™t have to give the other fellow help. His heart was never an open book either. Element of Danger: +4 George Martin€™s orchestra, along with the song€™s refrain complete with canons, dig this song out of its ditch. The Ladies: +2 Co-written by Linda McCartney, so that€™s good for a couple points. The Cool Factor: +5 This song is pretty cool depending on whom you ask. That breakdown just kills me every time. Despite this, it was a massive hit in the US and Europe and was nominated for an Academy Award for best original song. So what the f**k do I know?
