5 Doctor Who Actors Who Have Directed Their Own Movies
2. Matt Smith
Fans were left disheartened when it was announced that Matt Smith would be stepping down from his reputable role as the Eleventh Doctor but there's been plenty of him to go around since. Not only will he be playing a pivotal role in the upcoming Terminator reboot, he was also handpicked to star in Ryan Gosling's directorial debut, Lost River, and next year he'll be heading to a big screen near you once again as he takes on Pride and Prejudice and Zombies in Burr Steers' anticipated adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith's popular novel. He hasn't just been keeping himself busy in front of the camera, though, as he was given the chance to call the shots himself in 2013 when he helmed the indie thriller Cargese which was aired as part of Sky Arts' 'Playhouse Presents' season. He "carried it off with aplomb", according to one favourable review, and Matt has since expressed an interest in taking on a bigger project, so make the most of seeing him in front of the camera while you can!
