Karen Gillan has firmly established herself as an on screen force to be reckoned with since she was zapped back in time by the Weeping Angels in Series 7. After crossing the Amy pond to leave her mark on another formidable fantasy franchise as Nebula in Marvel's Guardian of the Galaxy, she landed her biggest post-Who role to date when she was cast as the lead in her very own ABC sitcom, Selfie, and she has somehow found the time to direct her very own film, too. Busy gal. The Scottish star has ventured behind the camera for Coward, starring Rose McIver, which tells the story of a young girl who is pressured by her mother to become a famous actress. It's already receiving recognition, having recently won for Best Independent Short Film at the IFC Film Festival, and looks set to be one of the stand out hits when it's premiered at the Edinburgh Film Festival next month.
