5 Reasons Sony's Venom Movie Is Doomed To Fail

1. Venom Shouldn't Have His Own Movie

When it comes to characters capable of holding their own in a movie, Venom isn't someone who instantly comes to mind. For starters, he's a villain. If Sony go the "Lethal Protector" route, he's going to come across as a poor man's Punisher, while Flash Thompson's involvement could very easily turn this into a really sh*tty Captain America movie if it's handled the wrong way. This is why the character's comic book series never lasts! Venom is a character who would work best tormenting Spider-Man over the course of a two hour movie. Finding a story that doesn't have any ties to that iconic Marvel superhero in which Venom can keep audiences interested and invested is going to be damn near impossible. The "Sony Hack" emails indicated that he'll be pitted against Carnage, but where's the fun in that without Peter Parker caught somewhere in the middle? Instead, it will be just one violent alien symbiote against a slightly more evil version of himself, and that has all the makings of a very generic and dull couple of hours at the cinema. Simply put, Venom is pointless.
